Job Description

THE ROLE

As VP/Director of Technology you will report to our CEO and be accountable for the end to end delivery of world-class technology strategy, implementation and development. You will set the company’s strategic technical direction, but also provide hands-on development at the same time to make it all work seamlessly. You are a strategic thinker but also a seasoned expert in full stack software development that still loves to be in the weeds of technology. The ideal candidate is a senior technology professional looking to progress their career to own the entire technology landscape in an emerging consumer healthcare company poised for success.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • As an early member of the Senior Management Team, you will lead and own the company’s technology vision and its implementation, working seamlessly across C-level functional leadership in science, operations and marketing.
  • Implement back-end and front-end development technologies that reach across end consumer, healthcare professional and other stakeholders. This includes coding, testing, design and maintenance of software systems and infrastructure.
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a high performing people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates team members.
  • Lead the strategy for technology platforms, partnerships and external relationships.
  • Manage and optimize infrastructure and technology assets to satisfy internal financial targets and strategic objectives.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • The ideal candidate is a results-oriented, highly accountable, and business savvy technology professional with a high sense of urgency and a commitment to resolution.
  • Both hands on and yet strategic - you enjoy living in both words and can zoom in and out as the business needs.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive technology experience, including 5+ years of experience in delivering production quality software in a full stack developer role.
  • Expertise in backend development with one or more object-oriented programming languages. Preferences: Python, Javascript, and one of React/Redux or Vue/Vuex
  • Experience architecting and scaling SQL databases
  • Experience building RESTful APIs
  • Experience with responsive web design (bootstrap/bulma/etc)
  • Solid understanding of data privacy and data governance best practices with ability to implement them into both our software solutions and across our internal office IT infrastructure
  • Familiarity with cloud-based tools such as GSuite and CRM solutions and building internal pipelines to optimize operational effectiveness
  • Passionate about technology and solving complex problems
  • Willingness to teach those around you and openness to learning new things
  • Preference: Python, Javascript, and one of React/Redux or Vue/Vuex

NICE TO HAVES

  • B.Sc. / MSc. (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience developing mobile applications, preferably in Swift or Objective C
  • Expertise in backend development with one or more object-oriented programming languages. Preferences: Python, Javascript, and one of React/Redux or Vue/Vuex
  • Other DevOps experience (AWS, Docker, Ansible, Linux/Unix, Threading, Sockets, Virtualization, etc.)
  • Other Back-End experience (ElasticSearch, Authentication, Caching, NoSQL, etc.)
  • Other Front-End Experience (Task Runners, Module Bundlers, Unit Testing, E2E Testing, etc.)

Processing and Research Technician, Scientific Research and Development 2

Job Description

ROLE TYPE: Permanent, Salary


THE ROLE

As a Processing and Research Technician your primary role includes processing customer biological samples (human hair follicles) in a clean room environment. Secondary roles include assisting in research and development.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Obtaining, processing, high throughput analysis, and cryopreservation of human biological samples in ISO-7 and ISO-5 clean room
  • Storage and handling of human biological samples in vapour phase liquid nitrogen tanks
  • Cleaning, sanitization, maintenance, and operation of laboratory equipment and clean room
  • Maintaining inventory and equipment of laboratory
  • Assisting with research in the field of human hair follicle and stem cell biology
  • Record findings in the laboratory
  • Keeping up to date with current findings in relevant fields of research

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Critical = Research and lab experience (min = 1 year) working with primary cells and cell lines.
  • Semi-critical = Research and lab experience working with tissues and clean room environment experience.
  • Bonus = Research and lab experience with hair follicles and/or stem cells, statistical analysis expertise.
  • BSc. / MSc. in any discipline related to biology
